St. Patty's day report Mar. 18th, 2012 @ 09:30 am
So according to [info]doc_cathode I still am not updating this often enough.   Fine, fine, here's another update, happy now?

So, fun times were had last night.  Went to Brunswick Zone in Feasterville with Paul,  Jim, Micah, Nai, Nero, and [info]doc_cathode.   We were there for a mid-birthday celebration for Paul and I- arranged before it even occurred to me that it was St. Patrick's day.

Spent some time in the arcade at the beginning of the night.  Not much of an arcade, really, though there were a handful of semi-fun redemption machines.    They had "Ice Ball" which was a really crappy knock-off of Skee Ball.   The balls were made of cheap lightweight plastic, and the ramp was made of linoleum that was warped to the point of distorting the way the balls went.   Very un-satisfying. Or maybe I'm just a Skee-ball snob.

Then we went to the restaurant to eat.   Had some crappy pizza.  Jim bought me my first ever Irish Car Bomb at the bar.  I figured it was going to be disgusting, but it was surprisingly good.  Drank far more Soda than I should have too.

After that, we played a round of Lazer-tag.Go Green Team!  We beat Red Team by what was apparently an unusually large margin- 29150-21900.    I personally came in 9th place out of the 19 people playing with 2800 points.   16.53% accuracy.    Not too bad for not having played in over a decade.   I tagged more than twice as many as tagged me =).   Very much a fantastic game, and a heck of a workout too.  I need to go do that more often.

Then it was on to bowling.  We got their family pack, which included shoe rentals, a pitcher of soda (more ><), and 2 hours of all-you-can-eat bowling.   With 7 people playing, we managed to get 2 games in during out 2 hours.    I did as bad as I usually do during the first game, but about halfway through the second game, something just clicked.  I  had an epiphany of sorts, and realized what I've been doing wrong all these years.   Prior to this, I had gutter balls more often than not. After, I started picking up spares left and right. Went from being dead last to getting the 2nd highest score that game.

All in all, a very fun night.  Good times were had by most.

Job get! Mar. 14th, 2012 @ 08:00 pm
So I got a job.   But not the job that I mentioned in my last post. I still haven't heard back about that one.   Which is probably not a good sign.

What I got is a 4 week temp job for a company called Wingspan Technology that I only applied for yesterday morning.    Within an hour of applying, I got a phone calling saying "You can start at 8:30 tomorrow."     Didn't even have to interview, which is pretty nifty.    Got to the place this morning, and I was like "Whoa, Deja Vu.'   Turns out that I had interviewed with them for a different job a few years ago, and forgotten their name.   Haven't asked if that interview is the reason I didn't have to interview this time, but that seems unlikely.    They didn't give any indication they remembered me.   Anyway, the job is decent.  The pay's not great, but it's fairly easy work.

Crazily enough, this job is less than a block away from the place I worked last.  Which was right across the street from the job I had before THAT.    3 jobs in a row less than a block away from each other.   Bizarre.

Still hoping to hear back about the other job, though. They haven't turned me down yet, so there's still hope, however slim.   It's full time and permanent and pays twice as much as the one I have now.  And it offers benefits, which this job doesn't. So keep your appendages crossed for me.  Or pray, if you're so inclined.  I could still use it.

Fooling around with my livejournal again Mar. 7th, 2012 @ 09:23 am
Hey, what do you know- it's only been a little over ONE year since my last update!  Maybe I really AM gonna start updating regularly again!

Anyway, for some reason I felt the urge to mess around with this again. New user pic, my Chinchillas. Been using it on Facebook for a while now. So anyway, what's been happening in my life? Let's see. I lost the software testing job back in August. Been looking for a job ever since. Have a good prospect at the moment- a company called PSC Info Group. Went for an interview this past Friday, which I think went pretty well. They told me I'd be hearing back some time this week.

I've been a bit more of a social creature in recent months, so that's a good thing. Still associated with the Delaware Anime Society
([info]deanimeand Zenkaikon (May 11-12 this year, in the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks).   Have been hanging out with people from the club a lot more outside of meetings than I used to.     Which is nice.

In other news, I've recently started working on making a new game- one that I am not prepared to discuss publicly at this time =)    Hopefully will be working on it with Paul, although he seems a bit hesitant for some reason.  I don't know.

So yeah, this is probably the most I've written here in the last decade.  I can't think of anything else to say at the moment.    See you in the funny papers.

» Livejournal: The Return

So here I am, writing in my LJ again. Gitsandshiggles.com is no longer accesible to me for reasons I cannot fully comprehend, so I am back to this.

My life since my last post here has been good. I am now one semester away from finishing my game design degree. A little over a year ago, I started dating [info]singinggerbils, and that's been going well. I am working at Blockbuster Video in Springhouse, and that's going less well- I am starting to look for something else. Hopefully I will be able to get an actual decent paying job that uses what I went to school for (EITHER degree).

That is all for now. I'm going to try to start blogging on a semi-regular basis, but we will see how long that lasts.
